Pompei, a time capsule from Ancient Rome

Pompei is surely unique in its representation of a time capsule of a living city destroyed in 79 AD by the catastrophic eruption of the volcano Vesuvius.

This is no mere ruin, rather a google-earth opportunity to tread the stone slabs of Roman streets, peek into shops, gaze at graffiti, wonder at the beauty and expanse of the Roman baths, and deep dive into the daily life of this cosmopolitan and fascinating city.

So whilst waiting on making your way back to the beauties of Naples and the Amalfi coast, we invite you to click on the video to join Dr. Mary Beard, academic, writer and professor of classical studies at Cambridge University for a captivating insight into this most fascinating of ancient cities.
