Marie Noelle does Bordeaux

We continue our exploration of France as an event and incentive destination with our fantastic Marie Noelle Bouard. Marie Noelle is our Director of Business Development for France, seeking out new and exciting experiences to entice event organisers from across the globe. Marie Noelle has a passion for photography which is why Bordeaux holds a special place in her heart, providing her with never-ending opportunities to capture culture, beauty, history, and nature in images.

Tantalise your tastebuds and indulge in some people watching at Les Halles de Bacalan

Food markets have exploded in popularity across the globe as a place to congregate for a bite to eat and some social intercourse. But cast aside your aspersions of single-use plastic and squeezy sauce bottles at Les Halles de Bacalan.

Nestled just off the banks of the Garonne river in the Bassins à Flots district, this light and airy space is the perfect spot for discerning foodies. From oyster bars to fromageries this bustling market is alive with personality and a great place to soak up the atmosphere and taste local delicacies. One of Marie Noelle's favourite spots is Balme, this truffle bar does exactly what it says on the tin, serving up all things truffle (infused, sprinkled, sliced...) perfect for a hint of luxury. A fantastic spot for a small group to blend in and wander or privatize the entire market hall.

Escape to the coast

Marie Noelle's favourite thing is to take the 1-hour drive (you could always do it in style) out to the southern tip of the Mimbeau Conch. Whilst here, she recommends you soak up the views of this spellbinding coastline as you relax in the rustic charms of La Cabane du Mimbeau; as you sample the freshest oysters, you could be forgiven for thinking you had travelled back in time. Enhance this further with a sumptuous dinner aboard a Pinasse boat as you sail around the Arcachon bay.

A cocktail to remember...

A cocktail in Bordeaux is one way to upset the locals. Instead, Marie Noelle has two fantastic suggestions to enjoy an unforgettable aperitif. Her favourite spot is Secret D’Inities; what this unique champagne bar lacks in size, it makes up for in ambience and style. This is a real hidden gem. Alternatively, for the larger group, the Intercontinental Bordeaux Le Grand Hotel boasts a stunning rooftop bar known as the Yacht Club; here, you could be forgiven to stray from the wines and champagnes and enjoy a cocktail; we hear their dark and stormy goes down a treat.
