An Enchanted Garden: An Immersive Gala Dinner in Sicily

For this special evening in Sicily (Italy), the client wanted more than an exceptional venue and a beautifully designed gala dinner. The ambition was to create an immersive experience that would surprise guests, celebrate the destination's cultural identity and leave a lasting impression.

The chosen venue, Radicepura Botanical Garden, on the slopes of Mount Etna, provided an extraordinary starting point. Beyond its natural beauty, the client was particularly drawn to the garden's commitment to preserving botanical heritage for future generations. Its philosophy of protecting the past while nurturing the future became a central source of inspiration.

The challenge for TERRAEVENTS Italy was to translate this vision into an original event concept, bringing together entertainment, décor, lighting and the surrounding landscape in a way that felt both spectacular and meaningful.

Rather than organising a series of performances to accompany dinner, the client wanted an experience in which every element contributed to a larger story: the story of Sicily itself.

Our Solution to Execute the Corporate Event:

TERRAEVENTS Italy developed the concept of The Enchanted Garden, transforming Radicepura into a dreamlike setting where Sicily's history, traditions and natural landscape were interpreted through immersive entertainment and event design.

The experience was conceived as a gradual crescendo, with each stage of the evening revealing something new.
Guests began with a welcome cocktail in Radicepura's historic botanical garden, where local guides introduced them to the venue's botanical heritage and the significance of its conservation work. From there, a red carpet led them towards the contemporary greenhouse, where the Enchanted Garden came to life.

At the heart of the dinner setting were two spectacular imperial tables. Their flowing, serpentine shape evoked the Mediterranean Sea and its influence on Sicily's history as a crossroads between Europe, Africa and the East.

The décor drew on the island's distinctive cultural identity. Lush vegetation, palms, tropical birds and vibrant colours created an almost theatrical environment, while aubergine-coloured pleated tablecloths referenced Sicilian cuisine and the draping of ancient garments. Velvet chairs added richness to the setting, and individually illuminated centrepieces highlighted the intricate details of the design.

But the real transformation came through entertainment.
Above the guests, gymnasts and aerial trapeze artists delivered performances inspired by the spectacles and banquets of Magna Graecia, offering a contemporary interpretation of Sicily's ancient Greek heritage. Their movements transformed the greenhouse into a living stage, adding an unexpected dimension to the dining experience.

Music became another way to connect the past with the present. TERRAEVENTS selected the Orchestra del Plettro di Taormina, a traditional ensemble whose work also contributes to passing musical knowledge to younger generations. This choice was particularly meaningful. Just as Radicepura works to preserve botanical heritage, the orchestra helps ensure that an important part of Sicily's musical tradition continues into the future.

As the evening progressed, the atmosphere became increasingly dramatic, culminating in a surprise fire performance dedicated to "Mamma Etna", the volcano overlooking the venue and one of the most powerful symbols of Sicily.

Every performance was connected to the destination. Every transition was considered. Entertainment, music, lighting and décor worked together to create a cohesive experience rather than a collection of individual shows.

The result was an immersive gala dinner in which Sicily was not simply the backdrop, but the protagonist.

How We Worked Behind the Scenes to Create the Final Experience

Bringing this event to life required extensive creative planning, technical coordination and collaboration between multiple suppliers.

Unlike a conventional gala dinner, the entertainment was closely integrated into the venue's layout and overall event design. Aerial performances, live music, lighting, décor and catering all needed to work within the same environment, with carefully coordinated installation schedules, rehearsals and technical requirements.

The TERRAEVENTS Italy team managed the production process, coordinating artists, suppliers and technical teams to ensure that each element contributed to the creative vision without compromising the guest experience.

Then, shortly before guests arrived, an unexpected challenge emerged.

Rain forced the team to adapt the original set-up at the last minute. Performance positions had to be reconsidered, parts of the entertainment running order reorganised, and elements of the production repositioned. And because the performances were so closely connected to the surrounding environment, even a small adjustment could affect other aspects of the event.
TERRAEVENTS responded by rapidly coordinating the necessary changes across suppliers, performers and production teams, ensuring that the creative concept remained intact.

When guests arrived, the complexity of these last-minute adjustments was invisible.

The journey from the historic garden to the contemporary greenhouse unfolded as planned. The performances remained seamlessly integrated into the setting, and the progression from an intimate welcome to a dramatic finale retained its impact.
